Who we are

With the unique advantage that WE ARE NATIVES
– Intimate knowledge of the area – Authentic and immersive experience –

GRMtours is a new organization that desires to breathe new life into the motorcycle tourism in Greece through the promotion of areas unknown to the typical summer visitor. Our aim is to offer an alternative tourist experience in our country by revealing a completely different Greece which is not only beach bars, beaches and seas. We follow routes through virgin forests, mountainous passes, lakes, rivers, gorges and plains found in places both full of the Greek history either ancient, medieval or contemporary and full of our rich Greek folklore, our hospitality and simplicity which are in harmony with nature. The choice of routes was based upon the concept of familiarizing our guests with the particular traits of each area such as natural beauty, historical interest, local architecture, and the adjustment of human needs in relation to the local, natural particulars and the daily, travel distance. In the center of the aforementioned priorities of our organization lies our hospitality coupled with our excellent quality in terms of accommodation and alimentation. Accommodation includes five-star hotels in the three, central cities, Ioannina, Kastoria and Thessaloniki which serve as our starting points and meals include local, Mediterranean and European cuisines.

George “capo” Glavas. Founder, owner and tour marshal has been an almost twenty-five-year-devoted motorcyclist who has experienced more than 20,000 km every year in various terrains and vehicles since 1998.He has been a Holder of the FIMTour Assistant Certification. His first motorbike experience was with the famous Honda Cab 50 back at the distant 1984. The first “real” motorcycle he has ever ridden was a Sachs-Hercules 50, belonging to a relative. He gained his first experience with organized tours back in the early 2000 when he began participating in weekend rides through internet-based clubs. Eventually, the number of days and participants altered either to shorter or longer periods and smaller or bigger groups with a meticulous focus on road safety and overall satisfaction. His first international trip, back at 2008, was in Bulgaria, riding his Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 as a member of a small group. The following years, he traveled a lot, either alone or with groups up to fifteen persons and mingled with different cultures, civilizations and mentalities. As a motorcyclist and as a personality, he is addicted to human interaction and knowledge sharing. So, through the years, he developed the need to introduce the hidden beauty of the unknown Greek mainland to people who enjoy motorcycle tourism.

Tour marshal and photographer. Evan started his motorcycle experience almost 30 years ago, back in 1995 when he used to ride his first motorbike, a Yamaha (XS400 DOHC), all over Greece. Since then, other motorcycles have come and gone, kilometers count have built up and the need for more settled with the first trip in Europe during the summer of 2012. The Pandora box had opened and it has remained as such since then. The thirst for visiting new places, making new friends, discovering new cultures is still present as is the will to show this corner of Earth and its culture to our guests.
Since then, after countless journeys and excursions, the necessity of capturing memories has also become a hobby, a passion that equals this of motorcycle riding rendering photography a part of his everyday life. So, please live the experience, smile, say cheese and wait for the “click”.
After a long lasting love with the mighty Honda XRV750 Africa Twin, Evan moved to the next motorcycle with which he is going to keep a sharp eye on our caravan as the rear tour marshal riding his Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

Positive vibes

We know no other written proof of this than the following:

What counts is the voyage!

“As you set out for Ithaca
hope that your journey is a long one
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrigonians and Cyclops, angry Poseidon do not be afraid of them.

You never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high
as long as a rare sensation touches your spirit and your body.

Laistrigonians and Cyclops, the wild Poseidon you won’t encounter that
unless you bring them along inside your soul
unless you soul set them up in front of you

Hope that your journey is a long one
may there be many summers mornings
when with what pleasure, what joy
you come into harbor, seen for the first time.

May you stop at Phoenicians trading stations to buy fine things,
mother of pearl, coral, amber, ebony,
sensual perfumes of every kind, as many sensual perfumes as you can

And may you visit many Egyptian cities
to learn and learn again, from those who know

Keep Ithaca always in your mind
arriving there is what you are destined for
but do not harry the journey at all
better if it lasts for years

So that you are old by the time you reach the island
wealthy with all you have gain on the way
not expecting Ithaca to make you rich

Ithaca gave you the marvelous journey
without her you would not have set out
she has nothing left to give you now

And if you find her poor, Ithaca won’t have fouled you
wise as you will have become, so full of experience
you ‘ll have understood by then what these Ithaca’s mean”
